Martina Franca, Puligia, Southern Italy (the heel of Italy). Jim and I went to Puligia in October 2004 at the end of the wine and olive harvest and stayed in a truli. A truli is a unique dwelling only found in the area of around Alberobello. Unfortunately we had the worse weather for 20 years, and the dry stone walling was soaked and the dehumidifier was on non-stop. During the day we went out and about, and visited the zoo at Fasano, and Martina Franca (nicknamed the white city), a warren of medieval buildings and streets, and crowned by a huge basilica at it's heart. We arrived early and took photos of the town in the early morning drizzling mists, it was very ethereal.
